SIGN A LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUSH
Ask for his support today at the upcoming G8 meeting for an unprecedented debt-aid-trade deal for the people in the poorest countries. Together as ONE, we can send President Bush to the G8 Summit carrying the compassion, justice and generosity of millions of Americans.
SIGN THE ONE DECLARATION
“WE BELIEVE that in the best American tradition of helping others help themselves, now is the time to join with other countries in a historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and extreme poverty. WE RECOGNIZE that a pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief, fighting corruption and directing additional resources for basic needs – education, health, clean water, food, and care for orphans – would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the poorest countries, at a cost equal to just one percent more of the US budget. WE COMMIT ourselves - one person, one voice, one vote at a time - to make a better, safer world for all.”
time is running out... please, help make poverty history....

Af-flu-en-za n. 1. The bloated,
sluggish and unfulfilled feeling that results from efforts to keep
up with the Joneses. 2. An epidemic of stress, overwork, waste and
indebtedness caused by dogged pursuit of the American Dream. 3. An
unsustainable addiction to economic growth. 4. A television program
that could change your life.
why do i need the latest powerbook, or ipod when the one i have works perfectly well? why did i buy an SUV to drive two miles to work? why do i leave the kitchen light on at night? these are all questions i ask myself after having watched a documentary on linktv about affluenza.
other questions i find myself asking is why it's so hard to reduce, reuse and recycle? and why is recycle the easiest of those when it's the least effective?
i'm sure i'll be pondering these issues for a while.
what is afflueneza?
do you have it?
do something! buy nothing day!
